Not so new stuff

August 13th, 2009: A few pictures of the Lockheed fire seen from our house. Click on the pictures for larger versions. The first ones are Thursday morning, 7AM, looking directly at Bonny Doon ridge.
Fire Fire

The second ones are actually from the night before, Wednesday evening, 11PM: This is what an old and obsolete digital camera will do. It looked impressive with the bare eye: A good fraction of the Bonny Doon Ridge had pillars of smoke over it, glowing orange, and at the bottom you could see red flames.

Interesting pictures of our house

We live on a ridgeline in the Santa Cruz mountains, at about 2200' = 700m elevation, near the town of Los Gatos, on the edge of the San Francisco Bay Area. Since our house is on a hill, we have a view of the ocean, the mountains, the vineyards, and the Skyline ridge. We can't see Silicon Valley.

Rain in late June! Right before Sunset, so it made a particularly nice rainbow. Click on the image to get a much larger image. Here is a link to a 1280x1024 pixel image you can use for a screen background.
